Walmart is the nation’s largest retailer store and the has set goals to cut down twenty million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2015. If Walmart is able to achieve such a goal that would be equivalent to removing 3.8 million cars on the road for a whole year.
Walmart plans on achieving this goal by convinvcing suppliers of their products to rethink their production, manufacturing, and transportation ways. Walmart has made it clear that the retailer store only has interest in doing business with suppliers who share the same goals as Walmart. The store is working with such organizations as the Environmental Defense Fund, PricewaterhouseCoopers, ClearCarbon, the Carbon disclosure project, and the Supplied Sustainability Center to reach its goals.
