A majority of soil conservation has to do with preventing erosion. There are numerous different methods that can help prevent this natural occurrence. Plating trees in an area susceptible to erosion is a great way to keep soil in its place because the roots act as a natural binder for the soil around them. Proper drainage around soil also helps to prevent erosion. If water is running in direct paths through the soil, it will be more easily washed away, but by directing the water around or more gently through the soil will keep it healthier. Organisms like earthworms are great to have in healthy soil because they help to keep it aerated and promote proper nutrients.
