Of course the best way to get rid of ants is to prevent them from coming in the first place. Make sure to keep all exposed surfaces in your home devoid of food particles.
Some ways of getting rid of them once they are in your home are to spray vinegar on them. It kills ants almost on contact. Another way is to spread a mixture of yeast and sugar in areas where ants tend to show up most often. The sugar draws in the ants and the yeast expands when consumed thereby killing the ants. I’ve also heard that baby powder along the cracks where ants come into the house works as well. I don’t know exactly why it works, but that’s just another thing that people are doing.
The most friendly way to get rid of ants, is to make your home unappealing to them by keeping it clean and free of food particles and stains on floors and countertops. As for finding a way to kill them without damaging your own or your environment’s health, some exterminators provide eco-friendly pest control services, and many hardware stores sell poison free alternatives to spray pesticides. You can also order these products online, if they aren’t readily available in your area.
