Hydroelectric power has a very large environmental impact, changing the ecosystem into a dependent one rather than a self-sustaining one. Damming can also lead to loss of land, whether it be scenic areas or farmland. Furthermore, hydroelectric power is expensive to set up, and are vulnerable to natural forces.
