Here are the three main defense mechanisms that ladybugs are equipped with:
1. A ladybug will pretend to be dead, falling to the ground and hiding their legs.
2. They will secrete a foul-tasting substance from their joints, making them inedible for predators.
3. Their coloring of red, orange, and black are usually warning colors in the natural world that an animal or plant with those colors are inedible.
Not much of a defense mechanism, but if you squeeze a ladybug it will bite you, but the bite won’t hurt.
