What are some countries that are doing a good job of reducing their demand for oil?

    I would say Spain and Germany are leading the pack as far as the European nations go.  Spain has set forth realistic goals that will pave the way for totally decreasing their dependency on petrochemicals, including requiring that all new buildings be fitted with photovoltaic panels.  As of 2006, 20% of the countries energy needs were being met by renewables.

    As of 2011, 20% of Germany’s energy comes from renewables.  They are one of the world’s largest producers of wind power.
