What are some clear examples of evolution that scientists have observed over the last century?

There are clear examples everyday. The engine of evolution is Natural Selection. Mutations occur about every 10,000 or so times a piece of DNA is copied. Some of these mutations go by unnoticed, some are harmful and others are beneficial. When that beneficial characteristic is recognized and attracts others of the species, it is then selected for and bred into a population. This “natural selection” is what makes evolution happen. The results can be clearly mapped since we have mapped the human genome, however since mutation occurs frequently, the genome will need to be updated periodically as more genes created. Physical evidence of evolution takes much longer than 100 years to accumulate in humanity, but results can be seen quickly in species like the fruit fly, which has a much more rapid rate of reproduction.
