Here are a few cheap ones (compared to about $40,000+ you can expect to pay for larger, highway-capable electric cars). These are mostly small compact ones. Zap Xebra costs $11,700; ZENN (Zero Emissions, No Noise) – $16,000; Dynasty iT Sedan – starting at $14,000; GEM Car – $7,000-$13,000; Oka NEV ZEV – $5000-$9000; REVA – depending on the country, as low as $12,000. There are also electric cars available for lease only, which may turn out to be pretty cheap as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REVA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oka_NEV_ZEV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currently_available_electric_cars
