What are some bird species that use the gulf as their mating ground?

    Several birds nest and mate around the Gulf of Mexico. A few well known ones are: Brown Pelicans, Least Tern, Mottled Ducks. The pelican was only recently removed from the endangered species list, and the Tern is still on it. Several other birds that make the gulf area home are: Royal Terns, the endangered Snowy Plover, Laughing Gulls, the Reddish Egret, Seaside Sparrows, and the Louisiana Heron.
