Green tea has many health benefits because it contains potent antioxidants. Studies on green tea has found that it may help inhibit cancer growths, fightagainst the clogging of arteries, lower LDL, “bad cholesterol,” and fight against obesity.
I was pretty shocked to find a UK study on an endocrinology organization’s page that found evidence of green tea’s ability to reduce blood pressure (systolic and diastolic), cholesterol, body fat, and body weight. This was only a pilot study, meaning that it was a small scale preliminary study that may not have been as rigorous as a full blown study. However, researchers did see a clear decline in the factors mentioned above when their participants continued their normal diet but also drank four cups of green tea a day for two weeks.
