Portugal’s use of renewable energy to generate electricity has increased by 28 percent over the last 5 years. It now stands at 45 percent of their electricity generation. They use hydro power wind power, wave power, geothermal power and solar power to achieve this. They have also introduced natural gas into the mix of resources that they use.
Portugal is really broadening their energy sources. In addition to the things mentioned above, Portugal is hoping to open the first national network of charging stations for electric cars. Energy bills have risen some, but the system is still progressing.
