Well second life biofuels are a new development that seperates two components of a plant–lignin and cellulose. So then cellulose can be fermented at higher production rates while not threatening our food supplies and biodiversity, which first generation biofuels were limited to. Simiply put, it is a new development in using biomass that solves the major production problems of first generation biofuels.
