What are the risks with ocean iron fertilization?

  1. 0 Votes

One of the foreseeable risks in ocean iron fertilization is the depletion of other minerals from surrounding water due to plankton blooms which need a number of minerals to balance the iron they are ingesting. Other potential risks of ocean iron fertilization endeavors are the depletion of deep water sources of oxygen and the release of green house gasses more potent than CO2 such as Nitrous Oxide and Methane.
