Yaks are the object of poaching for their meat and their heads, which are considered to be a decorative adornment. However, poaching has decreased, at least along the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, because of the confiscation of weapons in that area. But yaks do remain easy to hunt because of their large form and choice of grazing locations, and their meat is very valued in the region.
