Poaching can earn someone either a criminal misdemeanor or felonyin the US. Poachers in the US can receive jail time, fines, or can have their licenses revoked (either permanently or for a period of several years), and/or they have their cars, guns, rods, and any equipment used to poach taken into enforcement custody. The UK’s punishment for poaching is along the same lines as the US. An Asian businessman was caught buying poached elephant tusks in Zambia and was sentenced to 5 years hard labor is an Zambian prison just for buying the ivory.
