There are several common products that contain mercury that often end up in landfills and risk polluting the environment. Some thermometers (usually older models), fluorescent lamps, some batteries, thermostats, manometers, switches, relays, and a lot of dental supplies contain mercury. Most of them are technically banned from being thrown out into landfills, but just like many other banned products, they find their way in.
