Although popular thought may place massive trees like the Bristlecone pine or the Norway spruce as the oldest plants, a small flowering shrub called creosote bush is said to be roughly 11,700 years old from seedling. It is said that this plant produces new branches along its outer edge as the center plant mass dies and decays, leaving a perimeter of ancient branches.
