What are the oldest ruins?

The answer probably depends on what you mean by ruins. The oldest man-made temple discovered is Gobekli Tepe, which means “hill with a potbelly” in Turkish. These mountain-top ruins date back about 11,500 years, making them much older than the more popular Stonehenge or Egyptian pyramids. Built by hunter-gatherers, Gobekli Tepe rose before the advent of sedentary agriculture, which came as a surprise to archeologists. Researchers now hypothesize that temples may have been the precursor to full cities.
