What are the oldest cave paintings that we know about?

    The allegedly-oldest known cave paintings are those in Chauvet Cave. Chauvet Cave is located in southern France. Radiocarbon dating indicates these paintings as about 32,000 years old. However, some researchers believe that the images in this cave seem too advanced for the civilizations that existed at that time, so the jury is still somewhat out on that one.

    Yes, most consider Chauvet Cave to the oldest. But I did find another one that may out date even this. In 2001, the Fumane cave paintings were discovered in Verona Italy, and are said to be from 32.000 to 34.500 years old, although it’s age has not been proven extensively yet.
