Nitrosamines are a group of chemical compounds discovered about 100 years ago.  In 1956 they started seeing that they caused liver tumors in rats.  90% of these compounds were found to be carcinogenic.  Products that contain these are lunchmeats, tobacco products, cosmetics, and pesticides, to name a few.
