What are Neanderthals?

    Neanderthals are an extinct member of the Homo genus, and are sometimes categorized as a sub species of humans or a separate species altogether.  They inhabited parts of Europe and Asia from as early as 600,000 years ago until approximately 30,000 years ago, when they became extinct.
