Nanomaterials can be anything that is manipulated at a molecular level. Nanomaterials are often measured in nanometers, with 1 meter equaling 1 billion nanometers. Nanomaterials be arranged by their size, shape, and chemical composition, or according to their various properties (conductivity, strength, surface area, etc.).
Overall, when materials are altered on a molecular level, they react much differently than when intercted with in a macro level. For example, gold particles will turn from a yellow color to a dark red.
