Deserts are home to xerocoles – animals that have special changes that allow them to live in the desert. On the mammalian side, common xerocoles are the coyote, jackrabbit, and kangaroo rat. Lizards of various kinds make up a very large portion of the reptilian xerocole population. You can find a more detailed list of desert fauna in my second link, which has specific subdivisions for North American and African desert creatures.
