What are millipedes related to?

Millipedes, of the class Diplopoda, are closely related to the centipede – both are more distantly related to crayfish, shrimp lobsters and other crustaceans.  Millipedes and centipedes are both classified in the subphylum of arthropods Myriapoda, which is debatably most closely related to the subphylum Pancrustacea – which includes all crustaceans.  There are theories that propose Myriapoda is more closely related to Hexapoda, which includes Insecta (all insects).
