What are Mexican jumping beans?

They are small beans into which the larva of a small moss have chewed through. These larva snap their bodies when it gets hot in the hopes of getting to a cooler place, making the beans wiggle!

The above post is completely true. People who buy the beans will put them in warm conditions for the fun of watching the beans jump and pop. It’s actually pretty inhumane because the larva can’t get cool and die a painful, hot death.
