What are methods of treating illness in the Domincan Republic Culture?

From what I’ve read, the Dominican Republic (DR) treats diseases like malaria very similar to how it is treated here in the U.S. DR physicians prescribe an antimalarial drug. They also recommend using insect repellant and wearing long pants and sleeves to protect from mosquito bites. In the DR, for treating malaria, doctors also advise sleeping in air-conditioned or well-screened rooms or using bednets.
