Marine Protected Areas(MPA) are spaces that actively protect, through restrictions, an area whose boundaries include some ocean boundaries. According to mps.gov an MPA, “any area of the marine environment that has been reserved by federal, state, tribal, territorial, or local laws or regulations to provide lasting protection for part or all of the natural and cultural resources therein”. MPAs can be seen on Google Earth.
