Here’s a website describing some basic green design principles. These include designing for longevity, minimize the extraneous, and designing for all aspects of the climate.
Green design philosophy usually includes concern for sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental footprint. While these are the main principles, it should be said that different architects value different ideas more than others and let that which they find to be the most immediately effective idea lead their approach.
Also to be considered is that architects do not work alone: The client, consultants and engineers are part of the process. Therefore, partnerships must be formed across the network of those involved in the erection of a building.
