According from an UNEP brief, there are three main objectives of the Global Green New Deal:

    • reviving the world economy, saving and creating jobs, and protecting vulnerable groups
    • promoting sustainable and inclusive growth and the achievement of the millennium development goals (especially concerning poverty)
    • reduce carbon dependency and ecosystem degradation

These are to be achieved by an international green investment of 1% of world’s GDP, or about $750 billion – that’s compared to the $3,000 billion of the global total of proposed (as of March 2009) economy stimulus package. This is supposed to be sufficient to significantly green the global economy by providing sufficient green infrastructure. You can view more detail about the specific suggestions and so on by reading the brief (see citation).
