Question from Sericulture subject
Chemical fertilizers are generally best avoided when looking to grow plants sustainably. They may destroy the naturally occurring nitrogen fixing bacteria that occur in healthy soils, because they have an overabundance of the nitrogen and phosphorus that plants consume.
A better solution would be to use organic fertilizers such as those from Espoma to fertilize the mulberries.
Most of the time, this hardy species can manage to produce copious amounts of fruit without much encouragement.
