What are the impacts of e-waste? Are they avoidable?

One of the main problems with E-Waste, discarded electronics like computers and appliances, is toxic chemicals. Contaminants such as lead, mercury and cadmium are commonly found in many older electronics. The main problem with this is also avoidable. Much of the West’s e-waste is shipped to developing countries like India to be recycled. However, due to limited safety standards, these seemingly preventable problems continue to occur, causing health problems ranging from infertility to cancer.
