What are I-beams for buildings made from?

I beams, typically used in commercial buildings but sometimes in residential buildings as well, can be manufactured out of a variety of materials. A common and popular material used is steel because of its strength.  Laminated wood and aluminum can also be used. The material used for the beam gives the beam its ability to withstand heat, loads, tension, and other forces.
