Hydrogen cars are personal vehicles that operate using hydrogen as a fuel instead of gasoline. The benefits of this is that when hydrogen is burned, it combines with oxygen and creates water as a waste product. Gasoline when burned creates harmful other gases and pollutants that effect our environment.
There are two main types of hydrogen-powered vehicles, those that run on fuel cells—where an electrochemical process of stripping an electron from a hydrogen molecule by attaching it to an oxygen molecule, then reattaching it to the hydrogen molecule produces the electricity to power the vehicle. And then there are hydrogen combustion engines, which basically inject high-pressure hydrogen into the engine manifold to power a vehicle just as a conventional vehicle does, but with little or no exhaust.
