If you are referring to the giant African land snail, then there are four different species of it: Achatina achatina, Achatina fulica, Archacatina marginata, and Limicolaria aurora. Achatina achatina is known as the world’s largest land snail, with an average shell height of 150 millimeters. Achatina fulica is more common and is known to be an extremely invasive species. It can cause serious damage to plants, transmit plant pathogens, outcompete native snails, and even neutralize acidic soils when it decays.
