The deal states India will allow international inspectors in to examine its civilian nuclear facilities and abide by international standards. The Indian government retains the power to classify its nuclear facilities as civilian or not. The inspection and upholding of international nuclear standards only applies to nuclear materials assembled after the activation of the deal. India also agrees that it will continue its halt in conducting nuclear tests and amp up its security of materials to prevent them from falling into terrorists’ hands. India will allow US companies within the country to build and sell nuclear power. In exchange it will have access to US nuclear materials and technologies.
