The Energy Flex house is a concept house designed by the Danish Technological Institute. So far, two model houses have been built which produce enough energy on their own to supply their multiple computers, microwave, and an electric car in the garage. The houses are super insulated with 45 mm thick walls and 50 mm thick ceilings. The windows suffer minimal heat loss and the wooden floors ensure both a comfortable and insulating base.
Everything is heated by solar energy: omestic hot water, electricity, a terrestrial heat pump for space heating, and a genvex plant to secure an optimum indoor climate.
