The worst consequence of poaching an animal is that the animal could become extinct. Normally animals are poached because they are a high commodity on the black market and often on protected species lists. This means that they are in danger of being hunted out of existence and therefore need extra protection. Disease in other animals and often humans is also another consequence of poaching.
