Baking soda and vinegar can help with pet odors. Washing the areas with vinegar and putting baking soda on it overnight helps the odor. Check out the link for more information.

The first step is making sure that your carpet/flooring is completely cleaned of stains and other things that cats or dogs leave behind. After this, sprinkling baking soda on the floor and leave the powder there for at least 15 minutes and overnight for stronger smells. After the time has elapsed, you should then vacuum the powder off of the floor.

Baking soda is great, as well as club soda, white vinegar, and citrus fruits, such as lemons or oranges. Lemon juice kills bacteria as well due to its acidity and peels can be kept in areas to improve odors (such as kitty litter areas). Cornstarch can be used to shampoo carpets. Check the site below for some recommendations on combining natural and safe ingredients to combat odors and clean around the household.
