What are the Earth’s natural homeostatic mechanisms, and can they offset the impact from humans?

The Earth has many mechanisms to regulate temperature, atmosphere, and clouds for example. The Earth’s reflectivity (albedo) along with cloud production help to regulate temperatures; the tides, moved by the moon, help to clean the shore. Processes which seem perfectly suited to sustaining life are none the less threatened as human activity accelerates the planet’s heating, and dump more into the oceans than they can deal with. It is doubtful that the self-regulating systems of the planet can undo the damage of unconscious human life.
