Dzo are a hybrid animal, crossbred between a domestic cow and a yak. The name is Tibetan in origin. Dzo are sterile, like mules, though they can be back crossed into pure yaks and pure cows again, though they still contain traces of the other animal’s DNA. Dzo are stronger and hardier than the two animals that make them, which is a reason they are produced.
