There are 11 different types of glaciers that all glaciers can fit into one of the types. There are ice sheets, ice shelves, ice caps, ice streams, ice fields, mountain glaciers, valley glaciers, piedmont glaciers, cirque glaciers, hanging glaciers, and tidewater glaciers. The largest are ice sheets, which all cover over 50000 square kilometers. They are basically like continents of ice. Ice shelves are floating ice sheets. The website I attached does a good job of explaining all of the types.
