Protozoa are unicellular organisms, and is therefore the smallest animal.  A helminth is a worm which is a parasite.  The eggs of helminths can exist in refrigerators and bathrooms, and can enter the human system, where disease may spread.  It is common for animals, including cats and dogs, to have these worms in their intestines, but it is treatable.
