What are CSA farms?

Community supported agriculture farms are initiatives by small private farmers that give up shares of their produce to the public. They usually sell directly to consumers, and tend to tout a variety of organic, natural, or local benefits. CSA farms allow consumers to get their produce at its most fresh at periodic intervals. Consumers essentially act as shareholders in the farm and take on the risk that the farm may produce every little overall during a season or not be able to produce certain crops during a period.
