Carbon Nanotubes are little cylindrical tues of bonded carbon atoms. Nanotubes have a lot of novel potentially useful properties in fields like optics and electronics.

According the wikipedia definition, “Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon with a cylindrical nanostructure.Nanotubes have been constructed with length-to-diameter ratio of up to 28,000,000:1, which is significantly larger than any other material.”  What this means isi that carbon nanotubes are incredibly small building blocks that can be used in high tech applications, like electronics.  I suggest reading up on these links (the footnote and references) to learn more.
