Carbon emissions is a term used for the amounts of extra CO2 that is released into the atmosphere from human activity.  This Carbon Dioxide is dangerous to the Ozone Layer, and needs to be controlled before multiple layers in our gaseous protective membrane is depleted too much; thus, a carbon footprint, or a measurement of individual or corporate carbon emissions, is a good method of tracking how much CO2 is expelled needlessly into the world.
