The Canada Emission Reduction Incentives Agency that was founded in October of 2005 has been criticized, due to a rise in CO2 emissions since Kyoto, and failure to maintain government funding. In 2007, a new incentive – the “Turning The Corner Plan” was established to reduce GHG emissions by 20 percent by the year 2020. A more recent goal was set to reduce emissions by 17 percent.
