What are Britain’s plans for wind energy?

    As of January 2009, there were 259 operational wind farms in the UK, which total a capacity of 4,070 MW. A further 1,738 MW worth of were under construction, while another 7,147 MW had planning consent and some 9,770 MW were in planning, awaiting approval.

    By 2020, Britain plans to have 20% of their energy from renewable sources. Many offshore wind sites are planned.
