Biomimicry’s goal is to take a “design” or “idea” from nature, and attempt to mimic or emulate it as a means of addressing human problems (for example, studying a leaf as a way of trying to create a more efficient solar cell). It is a young discipline, and the potential benefits are that nature has been around for a while, and has long been able to face problems not dissimilar to many we are facing today. In theory, biomimicry hopes to have many benefits in thinking of ways for a more sustainable future.
