Bed bugs are tiny insects which often live inside beds and mattresses. They are part of the insect family Cimicidae which includes several other biting insects. They are reddish brown, flat, and range from 1 to 7mm. Baby bed bugs, also known as nymphs, are clear and turn red after feeding. They survive on human and animal blood drawn from their bites and they cannot fly. They usually live anywhere people sleep in the home, but can also be found in cracks and crevices throughout.
