Kaingin (AKA slash and burn deforestation) has many detrimental effects on food chain. Kaingin fragments the forest habitat which isolates certain populations of animals in small pockets of forest. The resources of these fragmented habitats become quickly depleted given the insufficient space to support plant and animal populations. This results in dwindling flora and fauna populations which break down the balance of the food chain. Habitat fragmentation is just detrimental aspect of kaingin.
